We went up to my mum's place to settle the car and get everything set.

y'all might think this is an odd image, but it's a really pure embodiment of what it means to go home to my mum's place. the lime green paper plates, swirled with the muddy purple of blueberry pancake guts and syrup. that's always been Sunday mornings.

this, too, is so rich with that feeling: having to cover the pool in the evening.

I ended up getting a last minute phone call about my car, so we drove both cars back to Rochester to sell it to these folks, picked up Nick who had said he'd join (again, last minute, in his usual opportunistic fashion), and went back home. He's got some good images on his blog (link) and a gif of what he packed (just a duffel and one backpack, really). His blog is helping keep me on track; he wrote as we went so his record is far better than my memory.

Teysia and I were moving, so we took what we thought we'd need, including far too many clothes, the whole bathroom, and as much kitchen crap as we could fit (not to mention the bike stuff, electronics, and other tools).

And, of course, Aurora came with us.
