Mallaig's Circular Walk
Totally by accident, and, in fact, much against our prior planning, we ended up in Mallaig on a wet and dreary afternoon after leaving Glasgow in the morning. If you're coming from the South, as we were, this is the last mainland stop before the Isle of Skye.
Making lemonade from the situation, we set out on the Circular Walk of Mallaig. Most places in Scotland have walking routes like this, and this one had tens of spindly paths worn through the heather up on top of the hills that led off for the wide misty expanses of the coastal moorland. A surprising little gem on an otherwise tarnished day.
